FFTracker User Guide (rough)

FFTracker will allow users to track and view AFL match stats and AFL fantasy team scores (actual and projected).

It supports the fantasy team competitions AFL Dream Team, Supercoach, Sportal Fantasy AFL (VirtualSports), Yahoo!7 AFL Football  Fantasy, and Sportsbet AFL Fantasy.

To run FFTracker you will need to have Java installed. Note that you will get the best results when you are using a monitor with high vertical resolution (and high horizontal resolution helps too!).

Tracking Match Stats

You can track live match stats, view completed match stats, or view team lists for upcoming matches by clicking on the ‘Stats’ button for the match that you are interested in.

Matches that are coloured gray are completed, yellow are yet to start, and green are currently playing.

For upcoming matches the ‘Stats’ button will be enabled when the team lists are announced. Only AFL Dream Team scores are shown in the stats.

Tracking Fantasy Team Scores

·         The main purpose of FFTracker is to track your fantasy team scores and those of your head-to-head league opponents.

·         AFL Dream Team, Yahoo, and Sportsbet scores are tracked live while Supercoach and Sportal scores are estimates until the actual scores are posted.

·         After you have extracted the team lists as described in the next section you can track your teams by clicking on any of the following buttons.

·         The ‘open’ button will display a dialog that will let you browse to a fantasy team and then load the selected team.

·         The DT button will load all teams, yours and your opponents’, that have been marked as AFL Dream Team teams, for the current round.

·         Similarly, the SC, VS, YA, and SB buttons will load all teams for the Supercoach, Sportal, Yahoo, and Sportsbet competitions respectively, for the current round.

·         The ’My Team’ button will load all of your teams from each of the 5 competitions, for the current round.

·         The following screenshots are what you’ll see when the fantasy teams are displayed.

·         Player names highlighted in yellow mean that their team is scheduled to play ‘today’. If they are highlighted in green then their team is playing ‘now’.

·         The final column is a colour coded note indicating the player’s projected/actual score compared to the player’s average (ie. the average up to the round being displayed).

Black is bad, red is below average, green is above average, and yellow is good.

·         The final column will also show the player’s team’s match time if the match is in progress.

·         The button on the left of the player’s name will display the player’s bio.

There are tooltips for the player’s name, DT and note columns.

·         The player’s name tooltip shows the player’s price changes and scores.

·         The DT column tooltip will show a breakdown of the player’s score.

·         The note column tooltip will give an indication of the player’s projected score.

·         When a team is initially displayed it will default to the current round as at the time that the team was extracted.

To display how a team would have performed for a different round you can use the following dropdown list:

·         Changing this to Round 4 for the DT team shown above will give you the following display of how a round 5 lineup would have performed in round 4.

As you can see it isn’t very useful this year with bye rounds but non-bye years it is fairly interesting.

·         While you are tracking your fantasy team scores you will also get a ‘summary’ window which shows all of the fantasy team scores

in a colour coded sorted list (sorted by competition and descending projected score order)

Extracting Teams

·         There are 2 ways to extract teams.

·         In each of the following processes, I will generally use the second option because I’ve got lots of leagues in each competition.

·         It may be easier and/or quicker for you if you use the first option in each process. Try each option to see which suits you best.

Extracting your teams.

There are 2 ways to extract your teams as follows:

1.       Click on this button  and follow the instructions.

You will have to log in to the competition website using a browser, copy the html source from your team page, paste it in to the dialog window and it will extract your team.

2.       Click on this button  (for the AFL Dream Team competition) or the equivalent button for the competition that you are interested in.

These buttons will open a FFTracker browser window, which looks like Internet Explorer on Windows machines, where you will have to log in to the competition website.

Once you have logged in you can click on the  button which will take you to your team page and it will automatically extract and save your team.

You should see a similar message to this  at the top of the window.

This is the less secure way of doing it as it may be possible for FFTracker to intercept your userid and password and transmit it to a server for misuse.

You’ll have to trust me on this one but it needs to be mentioned.

Extracting opponent teams

You can only extract your opponents’ teams during lockout. The process is the same as described above for extracting your teams.

Use this button instead  and when it has completed extracting you should see a similar message to this

Fantasy Team Score Estimates

While the fantasy team scores should be pretty much spot on, FFTracker relies on the data that it gets from various sources.

As long as that data is correct, FFTracker should be pretty much right.

Downloading Player Price Changes

After lockout has finished at the end of the round, you can enable the downloading of price changes by toggling this button:

Note that this process is very slow if you have got a lot of fantasy teams open so make sure that lockout is finished for the currently opened fantasy teams’ competitions.

There is a 1 hour delay between download checks so don’t go enabling this process too early otherwise you might have to wait.
